YMedia 2.0 is a Windows Media Player (WMP) 11 plugin that will set/change your Yahoo Messenger (YM) 9 status to whatever media Artist - Title you have playing in WMP at the time. If you have a playlist loaded and the media changes, your YM status will automatically change as well!
This is intended for WMP 11 and YM 9, other versions of either may not work properly.
Installation/Usage:
- Run the YMedia2 Setup.exe file. This will install the necessary files in the appropriate locations.
- It is highly recommended to not change the default install path or it could cause errors with the YMedia2.dll registration.
- You will also notice (or should notice) a black CMD prompt window and then get a popup message about YMedia2.dll being registered, this is normal and expected. If you do not see it, it may not have been registered and you will need to manually do this by: Click Start - Run and type in (no quotes) "regsvr32 ymedia2.dll" and then click OK. You should then get a registered message.
- To launch and use YMedia 2.0, double click the YMedia 2.0.exe shortcut icon on your desktop. When that runs, you will NOT see a program open up, instead, you will see an icon in your system tray (next to your pc clock). You can double click/right click the icon to open it. Once you have it launched, it will change your YM status on its own. You can optionally change a "pretag" as well. See the program for details and a previewer for it. It basically allows you to add something like - Listening: Artist - Song Title
- To avoid application crashes, YMedia 2.0 will not detect or complain if WMP is not running first before launching YMedia 2.0. If you open this before WMP, it will change your status to the last song listened to in WMP.
- When you close YMedia 2.0, it will change your YM status to "Available".
- I will be looking to more options, like changing to Invisible or a custom status when YMedia closes and the ability to detect if WMP and YM are not running first. Those will be in later builds of YMedia 2.0. This is an initial release.
