Advertisement:The undercard fights for the Pacquiao vs. Margarito match are underway, and we have twoyou. I will update this post with the third undercard fight results when it is completed.Brandon Rios vs. Omri Lowther: This 10-round fight was a complete slugfest for Rios. Rios pressured Lowther from the first bell of the first round and never let up. He stalked him around the ring, and any jabs that Lowther threw landed on Rios? guard. Finally in the fifth round, the ref stepped in to protect Lowther and Rios won by TKO. Seriously, there was never any doubt from the beginning of the fight who was going to win. Rios DOMINATED.Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Ricardo Cordoba: This 12-round title fight went all 12 rounds, with Rigondeaux dominating the first five rounds. In round six, seven and eight, Cordoba came alive and knocked Rigondeaux down, for a standing eight-count from the ref but he got up. From then on, Cordoba continued to press his advantage and set the pace. However, by round nine, Rigondeaux had recovered somewhat and Cordoba was starting to tire. At that point the fight got pretty lame and the crowd started hissing in protest. There were even some boos. All in all, I thought Rigondeaux had won the fight by unanimous decision, but the judges split. Rigondeaux won the interim WBA super bantamweight title by split decision.Mike Jones vs. Jesus Soto-Karass: Soto-Karass dominated this fight with only a couple of whimpers from Jones. I believe Jones took rounds 1 and 2 by coming out hard and strong but even toward the end of round 2 he was getting tired. He spent the next 8 rounds covering up and retreating from a determined, round-after-round assault from Soto-Karass. Jones came alive in round 9 for a brief minute and opened a cut over Soto-Karass? eye, and the doctor had a look. Jones rallied a tiny bit in the 10th, but it was too little too late. However, the judges were apparently watching a completely different fight than me, as Jones won by majority decision and retained his NABA, WBO NABO crowns as well as won the WBC Continental Americas welterweight title. The crowd evidently was watching what I was watching, as they booed the judges decision as loudly as me.Image courtesy of sportsliveblogger.comRelated posts: Pacquiao vs Margarito Fight Time, Fight Card and Weigh In Video Pacquiao vs Margarito Preview: POLL Who Will Win?
